Welcome to Arapahoe High School, the largest of the three high schools in the Littleton Public School District. The Littleton/Centennial community is located south of Denver, Colorado.
Thank you for taking a moment to explore information about one of the finest high schools in the United States. Arapahoe is a college preparatory/comprehensive high school with more than 92% of our graduates continuing their education at the college/university level.
Arapahoe High School is well known for its long standing and proud tradition of excellence in every facet of student life. We are well known for maintaining high positive academic and behavioral expectations. Within our 2,100 member student body our faculty maintains focus on the individual student as we provide within our rigorous curriculum challenges, expectations and opportunities ensuring teacher assistance. Arapahoe has maintained the “variable schedule” for nearly 45 years offering students this college type schedule making available an attractive array of academic and elective courses throughout the school week as well as providing students with opportunities to have unscheduled time. Students strongly support our variable schedule and as one student has shared, “At AHS students have more control of their school day”. We believe teenagers need to become independent thinkers, self-disciplined, and take ownership for their learning. We offer a great deal of teacher assistance and individualization. During the unscheduled time students may visit departmental offices, receive tutoring in our study center, access computers, visit our library or get a jump on homework in the cafeteria. Our "open campus" is a privilege, not a right!
Arapahoe has been recognized by the United States Department of Education as a “High School of Excellence” as well as earning each year the “Excellent Rating” from the Colorado Department of Education on the State School Report Card.
AHS is one of the few public high schools in America which has a unique relationship with the Native American. The Arapaho Tribal Nation has endorsed not only the name of our high school, but also the “Warrior Mascot/Logo”. Native American visitors can often be seen in our school interacting with students/staff and teaching classes as well as celebrating with us renewals of our relationship. We are very proud of our authentic “Warrior Spirit” as we participate and compete with the top high schools in Colorado in athletics, activities, performing arts, visual arts and academic achievement. We have wonderful teenagers attending AHS and it can be proven with consistent quality student performances and our Advanced Placement/ACT/SAT scores/National Merit Scholars. All teachers at Arapahoe have subject expertise and hold degrees in the discipline in which they teach.
